| CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE Definitions: i. Refusal by a large group of people to obey particular laws or pay taxes, usually as a form of peaceful political protest. ii. The refusal by ordinary people in a country to obey laws or pay taxes, usually as a protest. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and considered a necessity by the 'rebels', especially from the point of view of the police or tax collectors. 2. Refusal will be defensible of justifiable. That is, there will be a cause for non-cooperation with government. 3. Occurs at a time that will not be injurious to nation's long-time progress such as during a skirmish or economic recession. 4. Lasts for a period of time that will be considered as reasonable. 5. No demand will be made, during period, by those refusing, for a right or privilege that obedience or payment would have conferred. 6. Refusal will never be ensured or accompanied by a physical action against public or private properties, or attack on tax collectors. 7. Achieves goal(s). That is, the 'cries' of the 'little' people will be heard, even if their complaint(s) is/are not immediately addressed. ________________________________ See perfect PROTEST (1).
