Circumstantial evidence
CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE

Definition: (adjective) (Law) Information about a crime that makes you believe that something is true, but does not prove it.

1. Purposeful and necessary for the presenter or provider.

2. Source(s) of information will be genuine and/or reliable.

3. Will be strenuously canvassed but never used as the 'key'.

4. The link or connection to crime will be apparent or obvious.

5. Remains in 'the mix' all through; won't be recanted or withdrawn.

6. Cannot be substantiated or substituted and will need not be expatiated upon.

7. Gives canvasser a (forlorn) hope, and a (false) sense of relief.

8. Serves purpose(s) - plants a seed of doubt, calls the belief to question, etc.
