| CHECKS AND BALANCES (1) Definition: Influences in an organization or political system which help to keep it fair and stop a small group from keeping all the power. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful (to emphasize). 2. Necessity, in the opinion of organization to restrain particular group(s) from dominating affairs. 3. Group(s) is/are under the control and supervision of another group or other groups, who in turn is/are further controlled by group(s) being checkmated, in specific areas of corporate activities. That is, an effective system of division of responsibilities (= separation of 'powers') is established. 4. There is equity and justice in the organization - in the way it is established, structured and administered. That is, an insistence on the right thing being done exists in the system and no 'sharp' superiority and/or subordination present. In other words, existing influences are generally controllable and can be supervised! 5. Flouting of rules and regulations by a (the) group is inevitably and appropriately sanctioned/punished (connect to #4 & #6). 6. There is respect for the laws of the society within which the business, organization, system, etc. operates. (To emphasize.) 7.
