Chattering classes
CHATTERING CLASSES

Definitions:

i. (usually - the chattering classes) (British English) The people in society who like to give their opinions on political or social issues.

ii. (British) People such as journalists, broadcasters, or public figures who comment on events but have little or no influence over them.

1. Purposeful and considered a necessity, by the 'noisemakers', to make comments on particular events.

2. Activities of the particular group of people are governed or regulated. That is, what they say will not endanger national security.

3. Persons concerned will never tire of writing or publishing or speaking, no matter the time or place or audience.

4. What will be said will be reasonable, sensible and meaningful, whatever the subject or topic, in hearers' or listeners' opinion.

5. Persons chattering will have no prospects of getting into vital positions of authority, where they can wield power, or joining the decision-making cadres in society, soon after making comments.

6. Persons running commentaries will not admit the 'hopelessness' - an inability to effect change - of situation. (See definition.)

7. Serves purpose(s) or achieves objective(s) - earning a living (journalist), or maintaining a relevance (broadcaster), or sustaining reputation ('VIP'), promoting a cause, encouraging publicity, etc.
