| CHATTERBOX Definition: (informal) A person who talks a lot, especially a child. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eleven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful, even if only the 'parrot' knows! 2. Necessity, in the opinion of talker to talk much. 3. What is said is clearly heard. That is, intonation, etc. are in order. ___________ 4. Talk is without mistakes or errors in respect of tenses, etc. And without unnecessary repetitions! 5. Talker stops or pauses when asked to do so. ___________ 6. What is said makes sense to listener(s)/hearer(s). 7. Talker allows for a contribution, interjection, etc. whenever requested by listener(s)/hearer(s). ___________ 8. What is said does not get speaker into trouble, immediately or afterwards (connect to #6). 9. No unplanned loss, such as breathlessness or tiredness, damage to the vocal cords, etc., arises from the situation. ___________ 10. Period or time used for 'marathon' talk is not one meant for some other important purpose(s). That is, talk is timely and not overly excessive! In other words, duration is 'appropriate'.
