| MASHING Definitions: i. (in brewing and distilling) The process of combining a mix of ground grains - typically malted barley with supplementary grains such as corn, sorghum, rye, or wheat - known as the "grain bill" with water and then heating the mixture. ii. The term given to the start of the brewing process, where crushed grains are mixed with water to form a porridge-like mixture called the "mash". iii.
