Definitions:

i. The ability to lift soil (oil or solid objects) from a surface by displacing it with chemical solutions.

ii. The removal of unwanted foreign matters from a surface in a liquid bath containing a detergent formulation.

iii. The ability of a detergent to detach (remove) soil (dirt and grease) from a surface by displacing with with chemicals (called surfactants) which adhere more readily to the surface being cleaned than to the soil.

iv. Process by which soil is removed from a surface and undergoes solubilization or dispersion.

v. Cleansing quality or power.

vi. The process of cleaning without solvents.
