| CATASTROPHE (1) Definition: A sudden event that causes many people to suffer. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eleven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful - whether this is known or not. 2. Event was not predicted. Or, where a prediction was made, warning was not heeded. 3. Cause was not anticipated by those affected by the event. No foreboding or forewarning. 4. Matter was not prepared for: no premonition or antecedents. ________________ FRIGHTENING (whoever the sufferers). 5. Suffering cannot be ameliorated once the happening commences (connect to #4). 6. Loss or losses arising from suffering is/are 'irretrievable'. 7. Person or animals are irreplaceable, in the event of death of people or destruction of animals. 8. Suffering leads to an action or a reaction (= panic, scramble, prayers, etc.) _______________ INEVITABLE (whatever the occurrence). 9. Return to normalcy is impossible for those affected by situation. 10. Lesson or lessons is/are learned by survivors - in readiness for the future or a repetition. 11.
