| CARTEL (1) Definitions: i. A group of separate companies that agree to increase profits by fixing prices and not competing with each other. ii. (business) An association of similar companies or businesses that have grouped together in order to prevent competition and to control prices. iii. A combination of firms for certain purposes, especially to keep up prices and kill competition. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for members in group (see definition). 2. Rules and regulations guiding conduct will not be formalized. 3. No illegality will be done in the course of pursuing objective(s). 4. There will be no 'weak link' among the companies or businesses. That is, there will be some uniformity in prices among members. In other words, there will be equal opportunities for profits. 5. None in group will be failing in its legal obligations, even as any or all may never perform any corporate social responsibility. 6. Remains united for as long as considered necessary by the members. 7. Employees or labour force, owners or shareholders, etc. will benefit from increased profits.
