| CARICATURE (2) Definition: A description of a person or thing that makes them seem ridiculous by exaggerating some of their characteristics. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful for the person giving biased description. 2. Deliberately done. That is, person giving exaggerated description knows the subject's characteristics completely and thoroughly. __________________ 3. Done in the absence of person/thing or behind the person's/thing's back. And, or if in the person's/thing's presence, no opportunity is provided for the subject to make a rebuttal or refutation. 4. Exaggeration is not excessive and 'characteristics' are not new creations or inventions. That is description does not contain an outright falsehood (to emphasize). __________________ 5. Description, however presented, is known by reader(s)/listener(s) to be not exactly true of what is attempted to be represented or portrayed. 6. Appropriate response (= laughter, etc.) is obtained from the act or action. That is, no regret(s) or negative fallout from description given. 7.
