| CARETAKER (3) Definition: (especially North American English) A person who takes care of a house or land while the owner is away. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary (see definition, to emphasize). 2. Appointed. That is, person is specifically chosen to be in charge for specific period, with or without a signed agreement or terms of engagement. In other words, person is not an impostor. _________________________ 3. Care provided is the right, legal and appropriate kind as directed by, and/or as agreed with the owner. 4. Nothing illegal is done in house or on the land by the temporary landlord while place is under his or her safekeeping (connect to #3). _________________________ 5. Person does not claim to be house/land owner in order to impress some other person(s)! 6. Person temporarily watching over house/land does not do anything that will delay or stop owner from returning, sooner or later, to reclaim possession. _________________________ 7. This person returns house or land to owner immediately or as soon as he or she (= owner) returns. 8. Person gives a full and complete accounting of the activities that happened, while owner was away, to the owner (connect to #6, #7 & #9). _________________________ 9.
