| CAPITALISM Definition: An economic system in which a country's businesses and industry are controlled and run for profit by private owners rather than by the government. ______________________________________________________________________ * All twelve elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for practitioners. 2. (Reserved.) (System evolved or evolves, was not imposed or forced.) 3. Product and services are of international standards. That is, quality of products and produce is comparative to any other economy's. __________________ 4. Workers, that is, the country's labour is well engaged. That is, production is not completely mechanized or automated. 5. Balance of nature and/or the environment is not damaged in the search for raw material(s) and/or in the production processes. 6. Wages are not death wages. That is, labour is well remunerated and pay for the workers can 'take them home'. __________________ 7. Prices of products and cost of services are affordable for a majority of the citizenry. 8. Industrial relations and trade relationships are excellent. 9. Profit is not sole consideration for the owners or factors of production (connect to #7 & #12). __________________ 10. Market forces reign supreme at all times. That is, no single interference in the economy from government. 11. Government is able to raise adequate finance from taxes that owners of businesses (= corporations, etc.) pay to provide necessary amenities for the citizens. __________________ 12.
