| CANING Definition: The act of hitting a child with a cane as punishment. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in 1. Purposeful and necessary (see definition, to emphasize). ________________________ WHIP OR STICK OR ... 2. Justified. That is, child knows what he or she is expected to do or not do, which he/she did not do or did. Additionally, child shows no remorse and makes no apology. __________________ FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH OR UMPTEENTH TIME. 3. Child is not seriously wounded, injured or hurt by the act. __________________ PLAYFULNESS OR SERIOUSNESS. 4. Not illegal. That is, this form of punishment for the (a) child is not disallowed in the statutes. __________________ AT SCHOOL OR HOME OR PLAYGROUND. 5. Child being hit is the right offender. That is, no mistaken identity in who is the guilty party (where applicable). __________________ TEARAWAY OR SCION OR AN ONLY CHILD. 6. Child is told the wrong committed and told or shown, where necessary, the right thing to do; the correct way to go. __________________ WHEREVER HIT - PALM OR BOTTOM OR BACK OR ... . 7. Punishment achieves objective(s). That is, a lesson is learned by child from the beating and, hopefully, makes him or her a better, well-behaved child (= adult) in the future. __________________ WHOEVER'S - YOURS' OR NEIGHBOURS' OR 'UNKNOWN' ! 8. No negative issues arise from the caning. That is, no stubborn reaction from child or his or her parent(s), guardian(s), etc. for discipline being instilled in the child. No Police! __________________ IMMEDIATELY OR AFTERWARDS. 9. Child is of a beatable (= 'canable') age. That is, not an infant or a tot.
