HAWTHORNE EFFECT (2)

Definition: (usually - the Hawthorne effect) An effect observed in science, when study participants alter their behaviour because they know they are being observed.

1. Participants knew, beforehand, that they would be under scrutiny.

2. Techniques and/or tools used in study cannot be manipulated.

3. Behaviour newly introduced never far from the reality.

4. Changed behaviour will be vehemently denied, if asked.

5. Result or finding of study, though false, is not challenged.

6. After-effect or fallout, consequence or repercussion, a loss.
