Definition: The doctrine that the will is not free, but subject to causes without, which determine its action.

* For the doctrine to be valid.


1. Behaviour and conduct is seemingly footloose and fancy-free.

2. Events which are considered as causes are certain to happen.

3. Causes would be specific and identifiable, denied or disguised.

4. Processes marking the start of actions are on and irreversible.

5. Outcome and/or end result will surely happen - no disruption.

6. Displacement activity cannot take place now to replace will.
