Tragic flaw
TRAGIC FLAW

Definitions:

i. An attribute of a character that ultimately leads to their demise.

ii. The character defect that causes the downfall of the protagonist of a tragedy.

iii. The secret weakness of the character that brings about a tragic hero's downfall.

iv. Inherent defect or shortcoming in the hero of a tragedy, who is in other respects a superior being favoured by fortune.

1. Hidden from public view. That is, no chance to be made available for some extraneous influence or an external intervention.

2. Embers of negatives are being fanned by who is suffering a defect through self-delusion or a display of error of judgement.

3. Beyond the reach of the law or use of force, i.e., situation cannot be corrected and/or ended by a lawful order, command, etc.

4. Seeming benefit being obtained from conduct of so-called hero, while superior attitude and/or behaviour is dominant or prevalent.

5. Trading of blame, proffering of excuses, scapegoating, etc. is very predominant just before the eventual and inevitable fall.
