Executive privilege
EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE

Definitions:

i. (in the US) The right of the President and the executive part of the government to keep official documents secret.

ii. The power of the President of the United States and other members of the executive branch of the United States Government to resist certain subpoenas and other interventions by the legislature and judicial branches of government in pursuit of information or personnel relating to the executive.

1. Purposeful and necessary, even if only from the President's or Executive's point of view.

2. Formalized and/or legalized such that it is cast in stone while it's existing or lasting.

3. Control or possession limited or restricted (see definition); not transferable or delegated.

4. Information being protected not one already in the public domain or under judicial authority.

5. Encumbrance, conditionality, legal challenge, etc. not a characteristic during this period.

6. Immunity, security, sustenance, etc. available throughout a President's or an executive's tenure.

7. Right not going to be abused after leaving office. That is, power will serve desired purpose(s).
