BUGGINS' TURN

Definition: (British English, informal) Used to refer to the way in which it sometimes seems that people get jobs or are promoted not because they are good at what they do, but because they have been doing it longer than anybody else.

1. Purposeful and necessary to not use or apply merit or competence in the decision-making.

2. Beneficiary will be diligent in new employment or higher position.

3. No unplanned loss will be suffered by employer or organization as a result of the risk taken.

4. No applicant with a better qualification or superior ability will be left in the labour market - on an unemployment queue - or denied an elevation on account of (a) the 'second-best' moving up.

5. No other consideration, such as a relationship, favouritism, etc. is used in the selection process.

6. No explanation or demand for a justification will be made in the situation. And no complaints will be heard from any quarters.
