| CALENDERING Definitions: i. A finishing process used to smooth,coat, or thin a material. With textiles, fabric is passed between calender rollers at high temperatures and pressures. ii. Process of smoothing and compressing a material (notably paper) during production by passing a single continuous sheet through a number of heated rolls. iii. A machine in which cloth, paper, or the like, is smoothed, glazed, etc., by pressing between rotating cylinders. iv. A speciality process for high-volume, high quality plastic film and sheet, mainly used for PVC as well as for certain other modified thermoplastics. v. A process where rubber compound is formed to a continuous sheet or coated on a fabric. vi. A finishing process applied to textiles and plastic. vi.
